Winning second place in the 2020 digital “Chinese Bridge” competition, securing a spot in the world finale.

As a Mandarin student at the Confucius Institute of the University of Trier, I, Alexander Berns, won second place at the national finale of the “Chinese Bridge” language competition in 2020. Organized by Hanban, this was the first time the event was held digitally. Having studied Mandarin for four years with the goal of achieving HSK 6 proficiency, I prepared rigorously with the support of the Confucius Institute. My hard work paid off, earning me a spot in the world finale in China. Alongside my language studies, I’m pursuing a dual degree in electrical engineering at Trier University of Applied Sciences and training as a mechatronics technician at Feluwa Pumpen GmbH in Mürlenbach. I aspire to build a career in China after completing my studies.
